Member Spotlight: DFW Lash University

The Plano Chamber membership team is thrilled to present our  monthly Member Spotlights! Each month, we will be highlighting different Plano Chamber of Commerce members to continue connecting our members with each other and the Plano community at large.

The Plano Chamber would like to welcome and spotlight one of our women-owned businesses, DFW Lash University. Heather Wagemann, our Membership Engagement Manager, asked Founder, Roxie Reese, a few questions about her business, membership, and role in the community.

1. What would you like readers to know about DFW Lash University and what you specialize in?

DFW Lash University (DLU) is an online cosmetology school, we specialize in the eyelash extension specialty license program. We serve anyone who wants to obtain their state license regulated by TDLR (Texas Department of Regulation). We prepare students on how to apply lash extensions and pass their written and practical exam with the state. Our main demographic serves underprivileged single mothers.

2. Why did you choose to join the Plano Chamber of Commerce?

I chose to join Plano Chamber of Commerce after attending the Women’s Division Luncheon. I was so pleased to see how diverse it was. And how it has given opportunities to all women of color!

3. Tell us about your involvement in the community.

I love to volunteer for different organizations that give back to the younger community. For Oak Cliff & Inspire Programs have been my favorites. I also love to participate in career days at local schools.

4. What is your favorite part of your current work environment?

My favorite part of the culture we have cultivated at DLU is our 4 DLU Principals. The DLU Principals are the 4 fundamentals we expect from every member of the DLU Family

  • Bring your drive.
DLU students are driven and focused on reaching their long-term career goals, while making all the short-term decisions necessary to get there. DLU students not only have a goal, but also a plan to reach it.
  • Be kind always, to everyone.
DLU students create a positive, inclusive culture in and out of the classroom
  • Communicate clearly and often.
DLU students honor themselves, their instructors, and their colleagues by communicating in a timely manner with clarity and kindness.
  • 100% Say-Do.
DLU students are committed to collective success. If you say you’re going to do it, do it, 100% of the time.
