Member Spotlight: ZAR

The Plano Chamber membership team is thrilled to present our monthly Member Spotlights! Each month, we will be highlighting different Plano Chamber of Commerce members to continue connecting our members with each other and the Plano community at large.
The Plano Chamber would like to welcome and spotlight one of our veteran-owned businesses, ZAR. Heather Wagemann, our Membership Engagement Manager, asked Plano Store Manager, Katie Helfrich, a few questions about her business, membership, and role in the community.

1. What would you like readers to know about ZAR Plano and what you specialize in?
We are a Texas-based brand that is proud to offer our clients the best cannabis therapy and customer service in the industry, with a special focus on serving the veteran and active military community. The sober statistic of 22 vets lost every day due to preventable causes fuels our purpose and we give a 22% discount to all veterans and active military in honor of Mission 22. I am incredibly proud to share that we have just surpassed $1,000,000 in discounts given to the veteran community in the past 2 years, and we have only just begun!
We especially believe that a strong partnership between our company and our clients is established as soon as a guest walks in through our doors, greeted with the words “Welcome to ZAR, where people come first!” Each consultant is trained extensively in product knowledge and the benefits of hemp-derived CBD and THC to provide the most comprehensive canna-education, as well as personalized recommendations to provide relief for sleeplessness, pain, anxiety, and depression.
Helping our community is our purpose, and we truly mean it when we say that ZAR is a place “Where People Come First.”
2. Why did you choose to join the Plano Chamber of Commerce?
As a growing business, especially in the DFW market, we seek to tap into the best resources available to us and joining the Plano Chamber of Commerce was a no-brainer. Our goal is to make connections with not only businesses, but veteran-focused efforts as well; as a Top Investor, the resources available to us have been invaluable.

4. What is your favorite part of your current work environment?
Our store location is one of my favorite parts of my work environment. We are near the corner of Custer and 15th and are surrounded by small businesses and neighborhoods, all of whom have been nothing but welcoming and kind to us since we opened our doors in late April. Establishing relationships with our neighbors and their families and introducing them to what we offer at ZAR has been an important and rewarding experience that I know will only continue to flourish.
