Member Spotlight: K9 Pet Resorts Plano
The Plano Chamber membership team presents our monthly Member Spotlights! Each month, we will be highlighting different Plano Chamber of Commerce members to continue connecting our members with each other and the Plano community at large.
The Plano Chamber would like to welcome and spotlight member, K9 Pet Resorts Plano. Heather Wagemann, our Director of Development, asked Managing Owner, Suzanna Austin, a few questions about their business, Chamber membership, and role in the community.
1. What would you like readers to know about K9 Pet Resorts Plano and what you specialize in?
K9 Resorts delivers an award-winning, luxury experience for all our guests. Our state-of-the-art facilities have been consistently rated amongst the top pet care facilities in the nation. In addition, we offer cage-free, luxury boarding with an all-inclusive model. Each client can choose all-day group play or private playtime with one of our professionally educated staff members. All of this is enjoyed in our spotless facility.
Our K9 Clean system features a state-of-the-art filtration system with UV technology to sanitize the air. Our resort’s cleanliness is maintained with multiple fresh air changes per hour to prevent the spread of airborne contaminants and odors. Our play yard features synthetic turf designed specifically for dogs that are kept sanitized and clean.

2. Why did you choose to join the Plano Chamber of Commerce?
Joining the Plano Chamber of Commerce allows one to meet and engage with other business owners. It will enable us to understand the business community and develop relationships to help us all become successful community partners. Members also can participate in community events, which allows us to grow our business by networking, meeting, and spending time with members of our city.
3. Tell us about your involvement in the community.
Before this business venture, my focus was social work and at-risk youth. I currently sit on the board of The Lullaby House, a non-profit in the DFW area, and Be the Seed of Change, a non-profit based here in Plano. Because of my experience, these organizations will continue to be supported personally and by K9 Resorts Plano. We also plan on supporting local animal shelters and rescues. As K9 joins the Plano Community, we will bring new job opportunities that offer training and experience, allowing our teammates to grow and develop.
4. What is your favorite part of your current work environment?
We are looking forward to creating a safe and happy home away from home for all dogs in the area. As dog owners, we know how important it is to give owners peace of mind when leaving these cherished family members in the care of others. It will bring such joy to us as lifelong dog lovers to share our love and give them the knowledge that they are leaving their babies in the best possible hands.
