Black History Month: Harry LaRosiliere

The Plano Chamber recognizes and celebrates the contributions of Black leaders, scholars, professionals, and more – today, throughout Black History Month, and beyond. In honor of Black History Month, we are putting the spotlight on a few of the many amazing local Black professionals and leaders that make a difference in our community.

Harry LaRosiliere – Senior Vice President, Wealth Management, UBS Financial & Former Plano Mayor

Tell us about what you do.
I help successful families protect, grow, and transfer their wealth. Our work with our clients is about building a relationship based on advice beyond investing. Over the years, our practice has flourished based on the connections we have made in the community. As Mayor, feeding hungry children through the North Texas Food Bank was my passion. Also, I focused on internships on the high school and college level. I look to continue that work.

Shine a light! What is one of your favorite local Black-owned businesses?
I will be politically correct and say I love all my children equally, therefore I encourage all to support all our black entrepreneurs.

What ways do you suggest that members of our community celebrate Black History Month?
The best way to celebrate Black History is to learn about it. Watch a documentary, read a book, or ask a friend about their experiences. Knowing about the black experience in America will honor and celebrate it.

Anything else that you’d like to add?
Black History is woven in American history, let’s accept it and learn how to forge a better nation equipped with the knowledge.

Harry LaRosiliere was elected in 2013 as Plano’s first Black mayor. He was re-elected in 2017 and his second term ended in 2021.
