Member Spotlight: SESSION Pilates

The Plano Chamber membership team is thrilled to present our NEW monthly Member Spotlights! Each month, we will be highlighting two different Plano Chamber of Commerce members to continue connecting our members with each other and the Plano community at large.

The Plano Chamber would like to welcome and spotlight one of our newest members, SESSION Pilates. Heather Wagemann, our Membership Engagement Manager, asked SESSION Pilates’ Director of Marketing, Molly Brown, a few questions about their business, membership, and their role in the community.

1. What would you like readers to know about Session Pilates and what you specialize in?

SESSION Pilates is not your typical reformer Pilates workout. In that, I simply mean that we take a more modern approach to the workout. Brittany Grignon, founder and creator of SESSION Pilates has trained all of our instructors to put an innovative spin and an athletic touch on the traditional reformer workout. Think a high-energy, music-driven, full-body workout that puts emphasis on the group-fitness aspect with up to 15 people per class. Our instructors keep you connected to the movement for 50-minutes by minimizing time wasted between exercises with clear, intentional transitions. To put it simply, we like to say that it’s an opportunity to check out of your day and into your body.

2. Why did you choose to join the Plano Chamber of Commerce?

The Plano studio is our fourth location, but it is our first outside of Dallas. So, while we have successfully opened three studios in the last five years, they were all in Dallas — a market that we have grown to know very well. We’ve known for a while that Plano was going to be the next addition for us, but we also knew that it was going to take a different approach being that we were opening in a totally new market — a market where most people don’t know anything about SESSION. One of the things they might not know is that we are big on community. It is one of the pillars that we have built SESSION around. Enter the Plano Chamber of Commerce. Months before our opening, I started having intentional conversations with anyone who would talk to me about Plano and marketing a business here. Through that, I had heard whispers of the Plano Chamber being instrumental for the success of small businesses in the area… Fast forward to Brittany and I attending our first Women’s Division Nothing But Networking event… We’ve been hooked ever since!

3. Tell us about your involvement in the community.

As I mentioned, community is key for us. It’s really a win-win. The more involved we get and the more good we can do, in turn gives us more face time in the community.  From donating auction items to schools or nonprofit events to extending special memberships to teachers as a way to show our gratitude for all that they do to popping up at trunk-or-treat events like we did last Sunday — we are always looking for more that we can do for the community. Since we opened in 2016, we have hosted monthly donation-based classes that solely benefit The Family Place, and we are now a proud partner of Lovepacs after meeting and connecting with Mimi Connor through Friday Mornings at The Chamber!

4. What is one thing you hope to learn during your first year as a member?

In my first year, I hope that the chamber leads to meaningful connections with other business leaders in the community. I can confidently say that, after just a few short months, we’ve already gained so many new connections and met so many wonderful members of the Plano Chamber. I can only imagine what the next year will bring!
