Meet The Summer Interns – Shragvi Lakkaraju
The Plano Chamber is thrilled to introduce two Plano Independent School District students who will be joining them this summer as interns through the Plano Mayor’s Summer Internship Program. Plano Mayor’s Summer Internship Program is a paid summer internship program for rising juniors and seniors attending a Plano public school or residing in Plano.” Coupled with Plano Chamber’s goal of fostering connections and creating a thriving Plano business community, the Chamber’s collaboration with this program is the perfect outlet to provide a valuable environment for leadership, engagement and building up a skilled workforce.
The Plano Chamber would like to welcome and spotlight our first intern, Shragvi Lakkaraju. LaChaya Terry, our Communications & Marketing Director asked Shragvi a few questions about her community involvement, future goals, and what she hopes to learn this summer from her interning experience.

1. What would you like readers to know about YOU and why you chose to participate in the Plano Mayor’s Summer Internship Program?
As an IB student, I have really learned the importance of leadership, communication, and living a balanced lifestyle. Especially since outside of school, I am actively involved in many extra curriculars, and I believe that developing these skills has helped me become a more well-rounded individual. I chose to participate in the Plano Mayor’s Summer Internship Program because it gives opportunities for young individuals to gain real world experiences that will be faced in the future. I also love meeting new people in the who are in the professional world, in my community, and in the same intern journey as me! I’m especially excited to start interning the Plano Chamber of Commerce because this experience will give me to opportunity to connect with others and learn more about how our community works together in a business viewpoint!
2. Tell us about your community involvement.
Giving back to my community is something I really value because leaving a positive impact on those around me teaches me such valuable lessons! I often like to volunteer at Feed My Starving Children, or Minnies Food Pantry, and through these experiences I have really learned the importance of service and compassion to support others. I also hold leadership for clubs which help our community: Reach for Refugees, Intellichoice Math Tutoring, and PB&Joy. All these clubs help individuals in our community struggling with something whether that be math problems or homelessness.
3. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years, I see myself graduating college with a major in either psychology or marketing, and a minor in business. I hope that I’m either doing my master’s on the path to being a paralegal or attending law school to study family law. As well, I hope that I can balance becoming a National UNICEF Ambassador because it’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time.
4. What do you hope to learn while interning at the Plano Chamber of Commerce?
Through interning at the Plano Chamber of Commerce, I hope to learn hands on experiences in business operations, and more about how our community can connect. I also want to branch out too many people and engage with those around me. I’m really excited to learn more about marketing and to help do social media or organize events. Overall, by the end of this internship, I hope that I gained a better sense of collaboration and professionalism!
