Meet the Candidates: Plano ISD Trustees
Plano ISD Trustees play a crucial role in shaping the education system and the future of our community. With several Plano ISD Trustee seats up for election, it’s important to learn about the candidates and their vision for Plano ISD. Here’s a closer look at the candidates running for Plano ISD Trustees:
Place 4: Tarrah Lantz
As a Plano ISD parent for the last 7 years, Tarrah has volunteered her time leading education organizations like the Plano ISD Council of PTAs and serving on the board of the Plano ISD Education Foundation. A member of the Leadership Plano (Class 39).

Place 4: Lydia Ortega
A retired professor of economics, with 30 years as professor and department chair she brings experience running a complex academic institution and understanding the challenges students face. Lydia has volunteered to serve and was co-founder of several nonprofits and served on a corporate board.

Place 4: Margaret Turner-Carrigan
A Certified hearing officer; retired attorney, mediator and educator. Margaret is PISD volunteer and member of the PTA (Robinson Middle School, Jasper High School and Plano West Senior High School), and North Dallas Suburban Foundation (president).

Place 5: Michael Cook
A local real estate investor. Michael is a member of the Special Education Advisory Board for Plano ISD, Plano ISD Future Funding Commission, Collin County NAACP (Prepared to Lead and Ready to Serve program coordinator), Huffman PTA, Plano West Rotary member, and Huffman School Based Improvement Committee.

Place 5: Khalid Ishaq
A business owner. Khalid has been a Plano resident for the past 22 year. He has served on the PISD Diversity Advisory Council, PISD – Career and Technical Education Board, PISD – Special Education Advisory Committee, Plano ISD Task Force, Plano ISD Leadership and Ambassador Program, and the 2020 Census Complete County Committee City of Plano.

Place 5: Greg Jubenville
Over 30 years of business experience in real estate/construction. Greg has been involved with numerous nonprofits, serving on board positions and volunteer positions requiring understanding of goals/objectives to attain the desired outcome.

Place 7: Katherine Chan Goodwin
A long-time resident of Plano, a successful businessperson, community volunteer and longtime leader in Plano ISD PTAs. Katherine has served as PISD Diversity Advisory Committee and Council of PTAs Antiracism Committee, executive board member and treasurer of both the ArtCentre of Plano and Plano West Rotary, Leadership Plano (Class 37), former CEO of commercial real estate company (20-plus years).

Place 7: Simon Salinas
A 2022 Plano ISD and Collin College graduate, certified pharmacy technician, and substitute educator. Simon is a former Plano ISD Diversity Advisory Committee member, LULAC member, Pass the Props Plano ISD volunteer and a Plano ISD PTAs volunteer.

Place 7: Cody Weaver
A licensed real estate broker, founder of Local 18 Realty. Cody has served on the Plano ISD school board for four years. He has served on the Plano ISD School Safety and Security Committee since 2019 and currently serve on the Board Legislative Subcommittee. Cody is a graduate of Leadership Plano, Class 38 and founded the Collin County Juvenile Detention Center Foundation Fund of Communities Foundation of Texas.
