Charmaine Solomon Named New Leadership Plano Program Director

PLANO, TX – July 24, 2024 – Leadership Plano, a program of the Plano Chamber of Commerce, is excited to announce the appointment of Charmaine Solomon as the new Program Director. Solomon is a graduate of Leadership Plano Class 39 and brings a wealth of experience, a deep commitment to community leadership, and a rich background in cross-cultural and counseling expertise to this role.

Solomon will collaborate closely with the Leadership Plano Advisory Board to oversee class sessions, the annual retreat, and other related projects for Class 41.

Charmaine Solomon, M.A., LPC, RPT, is a licensed professional counselor and LPC supervisor with a unique and personal understanding of the complexities of personal and family dynamics. Born and raised in South Africa, Solomon has worked and studied in South Africa, England, and the USA. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at Dallas and her master’s degree in counseling at Amberton University. Her professional experience includes working with non-profit organizations like the Children’s Advocacy Center and CASA, providing counseling and play therapy services to at-risk children, youth, and their families.

In addition to her professional achievements, Solomon is a founding member of My Possibilities, a continuing education program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). She has served as a board member and, for the past 10 years, as Founder and Chairperson of the Board. Currently, she serves as Founder and Chair Emeritus, focusing on strategic direction, special projects, donor relationships, fundraising, and expanding the Board of Directors to include a diverse skill set.

“I am honored to take on the role of Program Director for Leadership Plano,” Solomon stated. “Leadership Plano has a long-standing tradition of fostering leadership and community engagement, and I am excited to work with the Advisory Board and participants to continue this legacy.”

Solomon’s appointment marks a new chapter for Leadership Plano, which is dedicated to educating, developing, and empowering current and future leaders for the community. The program spans nine months from September through May and is designed to enhance individual and community leadership skills. Participants explore various aspects of the community, including education, government, business, health services, and the arts, forming the foundation for long-term involvement in Plano in a variety of leadership roles.
