LIFT Plano- Leaders Impacting the Future Today (.IFT) a dedicated initiative of Leadership Plano Class 41 under Leadership Plano, uniting Leadership Plano alumni and their families to support local nonprofits through coordinated volunteer efforts. Built on a foundation of service, dignity, and respect, the program engages alumni in hands-on community service projects, advancing both leadership development and meaningful impact. With a structured governance framework, dedicated engagement teams, and a commitment to long-term sustainability.

OUR PURPOSE

To organize Leadership Plano program alumni and their families to conduct volunteer service projects benefiting non-profit organizations that serve Plano. LIFT facilitates, coordinates, and oversees these service projects to further Leadership Plano’s goal of motivating leaders to serve charitable organizations.

Empowering Nonprofits

LIFT Plano informs Collin County nonprofits, or other similar organizations, that provide charitable services to Plano-area residents, of its purpose and invites them to request assistance with service projects. that can be performed by Leadership Plano alumni and their families for the beneficiary organizations.  Special outreach may be appropriate to beneficiary organizations from past Leadership Plano class projects that may need refreshing or updating.

Origin Story 

The origin story of LIFT Plano for the Leadership Plano Class of 41 is rooted in a deep commitment to service, community, and legacy. Initially, the idea was to create a program similar to a service corps, much like the Peace Corps, aimed at fostering leadership, camaraderie, and goodwill within the community. The inspiration for the project came from a desire to create something that would leave a lasting impact, one that would not only serve those in need today but also inspire future generations to continue that service.

The name LIFT Plano was chosen to encapsulate the vision and purpose of the project – to elevate and empower others. The acronym LIFT stands for Leaders Impacting the Future Today, emphasizing the idea that each participant is shaping the future through their actions.

Ensuring that the impact of the service extended beyond the immediate moment, creating sustainable, long-term change.

Building a sense of community, teamwork, and support among the leaders involved, creating a network of individuals who can rely on each other in their service and beyond.

Establishing a lasting legacy of goodwill, making sure that the work done today continues to inspire future generations to give back.

At its core, LIFT Plano empowers leaders to make a difference not only in the present but also to set the stage for future leaders to carry on the mission of service. The program was designed to create a ripple effect— where today’s actions inspire tomorrow’s leaders to continue building a more compassionate, service-oriented community. The legacy of goodwill is at the heart of LIFT, with the goal that each generation of leaders impacts the future, continuing a cycle of service and community support that will stand the test of time.
