In celebration of Texas Chamber of Commerce Week, the Plano Chamber will be publishing daily blog posts detailing some of the work we’re doing in the community for our businesses and residents.
One of the most valuable opportunities the Plano Chamber offers is the chance to meet fellow business people both in and outside your industry. These connections can build referrals, your business network, and friendships. By participating in a mutual exchange of ideas, both parties benefit. There are numerous opportunities for networking and collaboration.
One of the Chamber’s most well-known events is the Friday morning Business Interchange. Each week, over 100 local professionals gather for coffee, light breakfast, and to give a 30-second commercial in front of a full room of potential clients and referral sources. This program is ideal for morning birds and those who want to start their day with new connections. All of the business cards collected each week are then copied and available the following week in the coveted business card packet.
Another networking opportunity for those who cannot make it to the Chamber by 7:30 a.m. is the monthly Business After Hours. Sponsored and hosted by a different member business each month, Business After Hours offers casual networking and catching up with friends while learning more about the sponsor’s products and services.
Luncheon options are very popular for the busy professional and the Plano First Quarterly Luncheon Series brings C-suite executives to the stage to share experiences and insight into key business issues. These quarterly meetings bring together business executives, small business owners, enterprising entrepreneurs, and civic leaders from North Texas to enhance awareness of issues vital to Plano-area businesses.
Due to the widespread success of the Luncheon Series, the Chamber launched the Plano First Executive Breakfast Series in 2013. Held twice annually, this breakfast series provides updates from local business and civic leaders on key issues impacting our Plano businesses. The event’s intimate and exclusive atmosphere is created by limiting ticket sales to individual attendees (no reserved tables) and setting a maximum attendance of 130.
The Plano Chamber is proud to recognize our city’s best and brightest at the annual Best of Plano awards dinner. This evening event celebrates the achievements of local business and community leaders with the presentation of awards including Citizen of the Year, Business Executive of the Year, Small Business Person of the Year, and more. The list of previous Best of Plano honorees reads like a Who’s Who of Plano’s business community and civic leaders.
As yet another opportunity for building connections for future collaborations is the annual Plano Chamber Golf Tournament. Held each spring, the tournament brings together local business leaders to enjoy fresh air and friendly competition on the greens. Players of all skill levels are welcome to compete, but there are plenty of opportunities for other business members to get involved without having to swing a club. Volunteering, sponsoring, and donating raffle prizes get individuals and companies in front of other members while simultaneously supporting the Plano Chamber.
When growing or sustaining your business, collaboration is key to make and maintain connections. There are many events for local professionals to connect with fellow business people, community volunteers, elected officials, and thought leaders. Held morning, noon, and night, these programs fit any schedule. We hope to see you there!
