DLA Reception and Information Night
The Leadership Plano Executive Board is pleased to announce the 2007 Distinguished Leadership Award recipient is City Council Member Harry LaRosiliere. Leadership Plano will formally present the award at a public reception sponsored by Plano Profile/Wishbone Graphics, Inc., on Tuesday, April 24, 5:30 to 7 p.m., at the Courtyard Theatre in Plano.
The Distinguished Leadership Award (DLA) is presented annually to a Leadership Plano alumnus who has made significant and notable contributions to the betterment of the community. Mr. LaRosiliere joined Morgan Stanley in 2004 to form a Private Wealth Management Team, the Kravitz Group. Since Harry moved to Plano in 1994 he has taken on leadership roles in numerous community organizations including CASA of Collin County Advisory Board, Plano Metro Rotary Club, Plano Chamber of Commerce Board, Commissioner for the City of Plano Planning and Zoning, Leadership Plano Executive Board, Adjunct professor for SMU-in-Legacy and University of North Texas and a soccer and basketball coach for Plano Sports Authority for his two daughters. Harry’s commitment to Plano shows through the many leadership activities he has assumed.
In addition to the DLA presentation, the April 24th program will include information about the Leadership Plano curriculum, program requirements, selection criteria and the application process. Anyone interested in applying or learning more about the program is encouraged to attend. Each year up to 35 candidates representing a diverse cross-section of the public, private and non-profit sector are selected for the nine-month leadership development and community awareness program. The program begins with a mandatory two-day retreat on the third Saturday and Sunday in September. Tuition is $800 for Plano Chamber of Commerce members and $900 for prospective-members.
A limited number of scholarships are available for applicants representing non-profit agencies or individuals who require financial assistance. Applications may be picked up at the April 24th reception, at the Plano Chamber of Commerce, or may be found on-line at www.leadershipplano.org beginning March 1. The deadline for applications for the class beginning in September 2007 is June 15 at 5 pm.
A program of the Plano Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Plano seeks to identify, educate and develop future leaders for the Plano community and to motivate these potential leaders for civic, charitable and community involvement. Spanning nine months from September through May, Leadership Plano is designed to increase individual and community leadership skills.
