The city maintains an outstanding park system of approximately 3,008 acres with activities for all ages. Other activities in and near Plano include movie theaters, skating rinks and a bowling alley. Plano Centre hosts arts and crafts show, as well as vacation, leisure and trade shows. At Lake Lavon, just east of Plano, fishing, boating, camping and water sports can be enjoyed much of the year. One of the major recreational events of the year is the annual Hot Air Balloon Festival held in late September - a sight to remember. Plano has three country clubs Gleneagles, Los Rios and Prestonwood, The Hills. These clubs are available to members and guests. Stonebriar Country Club is located just north of Plano. Chase Oaks ( 27-holes), Pecan Hollow (18-holes) and Ridgeview Ranch (18-holes) are available to the public on a fee-per-use basis.
