Proposition 2 will give the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) the ability to collaborate with local entities by providing loans to fund water, wastewater, and flood control projects in Texas. It will also permit the use of TWDB loans to repair, improve, or expand existing facilities, such as water towers, transmission pipes, water wells, wastewater collection lines, and build new infrastructure - all of which are vitally important in addressing the current problem of wide-spread drought in Texas
and equally important to the future of Texas.
An analysis of all statewide propositions are available from the Texas Legislative Council.
We also want to inform registered voters in Plano of three proposed amendments to the Plano City Charter that will also appear on the ballot.
Proposition 1 allows for the City of Plano to change council terms, term limits and
voting dates in order to accommodate legislation that was passed at the state level
that is intended to allow more active duty military to vote. Voting "for" this amendment will allow the City of Plano to move to elections in odd-numbered years, change term
limits from three terms to two terms and change council terms from three years to four years.
This will also allow for municipal elections to remain on a non-partisan ballot
separate from partisan elections.
Proposition 2 allows for the City of Plano's municipal court to be a "court of record".
Voting "for" Proposition 2 would allow for city council to appoint municipal judges to specified
terms and allows for the council to appoint a chief municipal judge when a vacancy occurs.
Proposition 3 allows for the City of Plano to amend the Plano City Charter by
removing obsolete dates and clarifying language in specific sections of the charter.
This is often referred to as a "clean-up" measure. Voting "for" Proposition 3 would allow
the City of Plano to make minor changes to the existing Plano City Charter language.

To determine what issues we will take a position on, we use a process of member input, research and analysis to arrive at a consensus. We will also attempt to arrive at a consensus on each advocacy issue with our community partners, as well, but acknowledge that may not always be possible. We realize that there may be, from time to time, disagreements with our local governmental partners and their elected officials over some business issue, but our focus will always be on the business implication and consequences for the largest number of our members.
In some cases, the Chamber will issue a resolution of support or opposition on a certain issue. A resolution serves as a public acknowledgement of the Chamber's position on an issue.
